Monday, September 4th, 2017 is Labor Day. A day that symbolically and customarily marks the end of the summer. Labor Day, an official federal holiday as of 1894, began as a day to celebrate and honor America’s labor movement and the contribution that all workers have made to our nation. For many Americans, it’s a long weekend for festivals, food, fun, family, and friends. And in addition Labor Day sales!

Labor Day foods
Traditionally, Americans say goodbye to the season with an abundance of summer foods. Classic grilled foods. Accompanied by picnic favorites. Potato salad, deviled eggs, macaroni salad, and fresh vegetable salads. It’s challenging to find a weekend event without these offerings. Hot dogs, hamburgers, kebabs, steaks, corn-on-the-cob, lemonade, kettle corn, and barbecue. Labor Day desserts honor summer fruits. Consider the last of the Palisade peaches in a cobbler or pie, blackberry crisp, plum tarts, or strawberry shortcake.
